End of August Update: New MFA Options, Cyber Benchmark Betas and more!

End of August Release Update

Building in public and trying to ‘refit the jet’ whilst you are still flying it has its ups and downs, however we are starting to really see the benefit of our microservices investment paying off. We are now starting to regularly put out an even split of new functionality and bug fixes / enhancements, and August was no exception.

The belief that we could build the whole platform on NoSQL database technology has plagued us for the best part of this year. Over the summer we embarked upon some refactoring, and now we have the DB architecture in a more malleable place (this has not been pleasant and we will likely whinge about this for some time!). This means we are able to deliver a lot more ‘data out’ updates, such as APIs, CSVs and PSA Integrations.

Another bit of positive news is that the agent has become more stable for data ingestion, and the recent update has increased Cyber Heal accuracy by 22%! If you have any data quality issues at all however, please get in touch as they should mostly all be cleared now.

Recent wins with the Windows Agent have also allowed us to spend some more time on the Mac Agent so - as our Mac users are aware - there is more activity in that area as we have increased capacity to refine the Mac experience. Thank you to the community members who are helping us refine the Mac agent – you know who you are!

Release Summary

Despite the ups and downs, progress is good and we are now able to start letting more functionality roll down the production line, such as;

  • Cyber Benchmarks (Initial beta available),
  • Platform MFA Upgrade
  • CSV Exports at a tenancy level made public
  • API Access Beta Now Available
  • 22% Accuracy Upgrade for Cyber Heal Apps
  • Lan Scanner “Remote Scan Cancel” Capability

The External Scanner got the most updates with a whopping 22 tickets closed, followed closely by Cyber Heal with 20 and then reporting (Including lots of updates for our new Cyber Benchmarks report) with 18. You can find a detailed breakdown of these items here.

What did we fix last time?

As a reminder in the last update we released:

  • New Agent: The latest version of the agent is now 4.16.123 and this fixed a whole host of data updating issues
  • Winget Decommission: Cyber Heal is now working entirely on our own tech with an initial 40% uptick in accuracy and results
  • Speed Upgrades: These were executed across the whole platform (but mainly Lan Scanner and External Scanner)
  • PSA Integration: Along with the addition of Syncro, Halo and AutoTask we now have added the option to choose whether the tickets auto close or not

August Feature Highlights

Take a look at the complete list here, however we wanted to bring your attention to a few of the more exciting ones...

  • Expanded Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Options

We’ve enhanced our security measures by rolling out additional MFA options, including application-based authentication. Users can now benefit from TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password) MFA for email sign-ins, offering an extra layer of protection. Additionally, you now have the flexibility to unlink any sign-in providers that you no longer use, giving you more control over your account security.

  • ‘Cancel Scan’ Implementation

We’ve implemented the ability to cancel ongoing scans. This feature allows you to stop scans that may have been started by mistake or need to be halted for other reasons.

  • Cyber Heal Enhancements

Cyber Heal has undergone some significant tweaks. One of the most notable updates is the ability to migrate devices seamlessly. This will make device management much more efficient, especially when transferring devices between environments.

  • Data Export for Device CVE Reports

For those who need to work with their data outside of the RoboShadow platform, we’ve added a new feature that allows you to export data from the Device CVE reports. This makes it easier to analyse and share vulnerability data as needed.

  • Windows Defender Integration

We’re continuing to make solid progress with Windows Defender Integration to improve accuracy within the portal.

Bug Fix Highlights

In addition to the new features, we’ve squashed several critical bugs to enhance the stability and reliability of the platform. Most notably we have fixed the time and date issues that have been reported by several users. Please see the release notes for a complete list of bugs fixed.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, we’re preparing for some super exciting changes which our beta testing community are buzzing about. In true RoboShadow style we'll keep these under wraps for now, but September's update looks like it will be a big one - so stay tuned!

Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at hello@roboshadow.com

I’m lucky to have worked in technology all over the world for large multi-national organisations, in recent years I have built technology brands and developed products to help make technology that bit easier for people to grasp and manage. By day I run tech businesses, by night (as soon as the kids have gone to bed) I write code and I love building Cyber Security technology.
